Re: S&WS Camping Weekend & Rideout (PART DEUX)
Seems to be a bit of confusion at the campsite. Fizz and Quiff had trouble with a lady called Sue (owners wife I presume), but when I called I spoke to a gent (Andy I think) and everything was fine. I didn't fill out any online forms, just called and paid. He said if there's a few of us coming down he'll put us in the rally field.
I'll call and discuss with them. Will update OP if there's anything inparticular we need to quote when booking. Last edited by RichT; 05-08-09 at 11:12 AM. |

Re: S&WS Camping Weekend & Rideout (PART DEUX)
I wouldnt call it trouble, she was just a bit anxious and was trying to suss out how big a group we would likely to be. She was a pains to point out that its a family site and that if we made to much noise or disturbed her other guests then we'd get asked / told to leave. I dont have a problem with that its pretty standard for a campsite to have those rules in place.
When I spoke to her yesterday to book my pitch she was polite and courteous with me and took my desposit no trouble. I think the trick is to do what I did, Ring and ask to book a pitch for bank holiday weekend, then she'll say "Is that in the Rally field" at which point I said "Yes thats fine" she asked what vehicles I was bringing, I said a car and a motorbike and she replied "Thats fine"

Re: S&WS Camping Weekend & Rideout (PART DEUX)
it looks a good site - lovely ..and 3 mins walk to town.. ideal..
but because it is ideal I expect Sue is overly defensive / protective. as a load of perceived hairy bikers could lose her a lot of repeat business.. its her prerogative.. her livelyhood (sp) just her attitude when I rang.. hope it gets sorted cos it looks lovely.. and if it does , and we go, then I hope no one lets Rich down and causes excess noise and proves Sues point. we will see

Re: S&WS Camping Weekend & Rideout (PART DEUX)
Quiff - sorry about that mate.
I think the better plan is to call if others have a similar experience. I don't want to stir this up unnecessarily. I suspect as you've said, she's just being over protective and may have had trouble in the past. Give it as long as you see fit and then call to firm up your booking. If other's have a problem booking, then I'll give them a call. All - I think it's a far suggestion that you call to book and don't worry about the online form. |

Re: S&WS Camping Weekend & Rideout (PART DEUX)
I thought about that, but they may view it as a large group and that might cause issues. I think it's beeter if we book individually - ask for a pitch and/or rally field availability.

Re: S&WS Camping Weekend & Rideout (PART DEUX)
sorry but i think when we call she will be on her high horse and refuse us ...or call and speak to the man.. he seems more reasonable.
we all want peace and quiet , a beer and camp.. why do they think we going to rev bikes and sacrifice a virgin at midnight . we are about 10 folk.. they hold rallies for gods sake just get that feeling .. really think someone needs call her and explain.. as she will panic when 5 or 6 start phoning.. wouldnt want to lose the site as its lovely.

Re: S&WS Camping Weekend & Rideout (PART DEUX)
Personally I think block booking is going to put her off even more.
Try the approach that I took. Ask to book a pitch for bank holiday weekend, and dont mention anything else. She'll then say "Is that in the rally field" and then you can just say yes thats fine thank you and then take it from there. I suspect the main campsite might be full and thats why shes putting us in the rally field... If somebody else tries it and has a similar reponse to Quiff then let RichT now so he can phone the campsite and have a chat with Andy as opposed to Sue...
