Project Dullsville

Another "exciting" installment of the Dullsville tale. Front forks were weeping so i decided to strip them and put new oil and seals in. Also got hold of a new set of gaiters to kep winter crud at bay. amazingly after all that abuse, the yolks are in better condition than Nicks, which have 1/3 of the milage on and are 6 yearts younger - Honda quality again I guess!

Street figher Deauville...nah, maybe not.


Forks look in reasonable shape considering milage. Not too much corrosion on stantions either.


Mmmmm I'm sure fork oil isn't meant to be grey. It smells like the stuff that used to come out of ships' thrusters when I worked at Rolls Royce.


Nice new seals to go in.


And rebuilt forks back on the bike.

Rolls Royce marine systems in Ulsteivic - Norway. They make and service all sorts of manoeuvring thrusters for ships, and also prop shafts etc. They own loads of firms like Aquamaster, and Ulstein who build big ships.
I was working with the 36 tonne jobbies. You should see the oil seals in them! Sod screw drivers and rubber mallets, we used blow torches, cranes and lump hammers to work on them! I'll try and find a piccy and post it up -they were impressive bits of kit.

So this why you are so good with mechanical bits then!

Yeah, Phill has been a ship welder in Norway, cycled land's end to John o groats, grew up on a farm, and I *think* he can fly and cook microwave meals with his stare too. He is my hero.

dullsville rides again! I just took it for a test ride. all seems well so far...
