Ta bud.....ill be sorted for grease. When cleaning out the holes where the caliper slider goes into i took out a mixture of what looked like RRG and in another hole it looked like LM type grease. Dunno wtf the builder was doing in the suzuki factory.

Do You think they packed the rubber boots with RRG?

Learn to maintain your bike

If I can do it there's hope for everyone.

Next time you need to remove pistons get a G clamp, pump one out a bit and use the clamp to restrain the nonsticky one, that way you can get them out evenly a couple of mm at a time.

Taking into account cleaning consumables, grease, seals, stainless bleed screws & pads the cost of doing this is around the 80 quid mark. Not taking into account new brakelines.

Well yeah but that's not exactly a real figure.
As ongoing maintenance I've done dozens of these which have cost like 2p worth of grease and that's it.

Scabby looking calipers with rusty nipples and half worn pads still work fine if they move freely.

Thats the price I have to pay for neglect I suppose. And the work im doing will allow it to cost as much as you describe. Its another job ticked off the list i can do though.

I did consider painting the calipers but after reading up on it decided the best way was to get them powdered and I cant justify doing it for the sake of bling. The calipers are fine how they are.

Here are the front calipers, overhauled and ready for fitting. Notice a difference?

Next job... took the rear off today and took it apart...

One thing i noticed when i removed the rear brake line there was no emptying out of the rear reservoir. What is the method for this and re-prime?
