Don't you have a friendly neighbourhood Taliban who could advise you on how to decapitate it?

Clay is better than foil, in theory the skin and spines should come off when you crack it open because they'll stick to the clay/mud.

Ahh, good info, thanks - I know a bimbo so I'll borrow some from her. She can have it back when I've finished with it.

I think it was a Muslim hedgehog and I couldn't convince it to watch tv so they weren't interested...

I used to decapitate animals as a kid too, ignore what everyone else says if you're determined enough...you'll have the last laugh.

A few years ago I boiled a sheep's skull I found but the smell really wasn't pleasant and lingered - you'd never get away with it on a Wednesday night!. I haven't any thoughts about any of the other solutions you've come up with though, but they seem better than boiling.

My feeling is that I never say I'm an expert in anything - there is always someone out there who knows more than me about a subject and as soon as I declare myself an expert in a field (or a vegetable patch in this case), I find I'm talking to that person who knows more than me.

Now I have the information I need, I probably need to get this thread deleted before the people (i.e. our resident coppers) who could alert the authorities do exactly that...

Now I have a purpose to my action, however strange it may seem. Do you?
