Re: Rolex and the Brits.
Oh please. Rolex. So 80's.
I have been lusting after a longines masters collection watch for at least 3 years now, having tried one on at the airport. The model I want is an automatic with a clear back. Lovely it is too, and quite cheap in comparison to the market (high end watches), these start at £1200. Now, if only I could bring myself to stop being a miser and part with the cash. Dan |

Re: Rolex and the Brits.
I'd have thought for that money you could buy a whole watch.
As for Rolex being 80's that is true, bought mine 82 God thats 25years ago. Must have been rich or/and stupid then because I could buy a good Citizen for what a service costs nowadays. Always looked on it as an investment, which it is turning into as it is now worth more than what I bought it for. Old fashioned, yes, but a handy bit of collateral for an emergency |

Re: Rolex and the Brits.
Rolex,
Every chav has one. I have a Longines, solid gold case and strap, diamond encrusted. OK it is now old. bought in 1980, but still works well and far to stylish and valuable to wear to the costas. If only it had maintained its value. First insurance estimate was £12,000. Last year only £2,000. Guess nobody wants an old watch

Re: Rolex and the Brits.
Had one many years ago - bad time and butt ugly = pointless and I didn't recognise any value other than poser value!!
Friend of mine has two which he bought as investments to hand down one each to his two kids. By his admission they both keep crap time. IMHO both look ugly and unimpressive. |

Re: Rolex and the Brits.
I wear the Cartier only for appearances in truth. My fave is my good old faithful Timex.
In my defence the Cartier is only a Pasha. Last edited by Pedrosa; 06-11-07 at 02:53 PM. Reason: error |
