My K5 is still on the plugs I bought it with, eight years and about 12k miles ago, a lot of which was pretty much flat out.....

Nothing the garage said they did would have cured the problem you were describing. Hopefully it stays fixed.

Bet when they took airbox off to balance TB's they moved/shifted/reconnected something.

Yeah, go to the NGK website and read about how plugs work with healthy electronic ignitions. You can wear them down to rounded stumps with huge gaps and still only lose about 5% of peak H.P. If you're running iridium plugs, I think they last forever. Maybe longer.

I have iridium plugs so that could be the answer to their longevity.

Suspect this may be more applicable to cars or a running engine? Rather than bike with a tiny wee battery that's pulled well down in voltage by the starter?
