Re: Tips Required
I use a RAM mount on the left clip-on, same one I used to use for a satnav when the gixer was my road bike.
So long as it's on the bike, not you, not held on with a sucker and not somewhere it's likely to castrate the rider in an off, they're not too fussed - Cadwell is the friendliest of the MSV circuits and they're pretty laid back about just about everything.

Re: Tips Required
It seems to change 3 or 4 times a day. I'm just hoping it stays dry. Could be a long days sat in a van otherwise.

Re: Tips Required
Was good to meet up, shame about the weather. Hope your drive home was ok.
By 4 o'clock the sun was out and was 99% dry, just the wooded area had 4 foot wide dry lines. That last session made my day, I hope Donnington makes up for yours! (P.S. Can you remind me the model of the GPS device you have) |

Re: Tips Required
Likewise, was good to put a face to the name and meet you. Glad you had a good day.
I really wasnt feeling the conditions yesterday. The first session was really slippery, especially on the entrance to the Gooseneck. If that heacy shower over lunchtime hadnt happened Id have been out for a few more laps but alas it wasnt to be. At least we got home at a reasonable time I suppose. It would have been about 10pm before we got home and unloaded etc if we had stayed until the end. That would have been OK if we were out on a dry track having fun, but slip sliding around on a greasy track in the wet wasnt instilling much confidence in either of us Im afraid. I'll have to get the model for you on Saturday when I get the bike back from my mates garage. The GPS is still strapped to the top yoke at the moment. I think its only a cheap no name thing though but let me look it up for you. Dont forget to check out RaceChrono too. Works really well. You can see a sample of the data it produces in the link below. Excuse the quality though. I used some rubbish software to overlay all the videos and it made a mess of the definition. Im on the case though now using Adobe Premiere so the next ones will be much better to look at. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ric_nzEE-s |

Re: Tips Required
Yeah the video is great, looks professional with all that info overlayed.
I downloaded it, it looks ace, yeah if you can let me know the model. Did you get a 5hz or 10Hz? I've seen the one shown on the Australian RaceChrono web site, the Qstarz BT-Q818XT 10Hz. £60 on ebay. You remember how much yours was? |

Re: Tips Required
I fairly sure its only a 1Ghz thing, nothing fancy at all. Think it was only about a tenner but Ive had it for years now. The Q818XT is supposed to be very good. Also, the Garmin GLO has had good write ups.

Re: Tips Required
Cheers mate, I've gone for the Q818.
Last question..... so your using adobe premier for the video editing, is there another program that does the gps info to video or is that an export from the app somehow? |

Re: Tips Required
You will need a freebie called RaceChrono2avi. Google it and you should find it easily
When you record a session in RaceChrono, click it and at the top of the screen you should see an up and down arrow which allows you to export the data. Click that and select a save location. Connect your phone to your PC and go to that location and you should see a .csv file. Now open RaceChrono2Avi and load up the csv file you just took from your phone. You can also change the dials, alter the layout, colours etc etc but I'll let you design that however you want. Be sure to select your first lap and lap in the drop down boxes under where you selected the csv and also make sure that tickbox called "Record AVI" is selected. Hit play and you will the times start and the speedo moving etc. Just let that finish and hey presto, one AVI movie file of all your data that RaceChrono recorded. Once you have that file, you can use your choice of video editing software to overlay it on top of your main footage. |
