Hmmm. Most luck I had getting my job was brown-nosing through conferences. Its who you know, not what you know. If you are interested in one particular area, find out the labs doing research on that and try emailing them directly.

I thought that most graduate jobs were advertised looong before finals time. I seem to remember applying for jobs well before the easter hols and poss before christmas.

Even in mol biol allegelgdy a well funded section, i'm empolying 2 Phd's on much less than 20,000 to be lab rats its mad!! too many Ph'ds not enough technically competant people, just well book qualifed people expecting decent salaries which the science industry can't afford sorry for the rant |

I'm not doing science soley for the money...im doing it because I beleive I have something to offer to the scientific community the moneys not great, but its not as if i can't live off it either, nor will i be unable afford the things I want (a place to live, a nice TV, another guitar and amp etc). The challenges are there, problems I know I can solve
