then again i would say that i use my toes sometimes to tell me how far more i have to lean

I use my knee. Sliders dont wear out as fast

I suffer with the upright thing a bit too.
I just keep telling myself "lean into the bars".

I've been on track 3 times now, my first time was far worse than you, upright arms locked out. Just persevere talk to the instructors on track days and absorb all the info and tips (from places like here) and eventually you'll develop your own style that your comfortable with that is fast and safe (well I'm hoping that'll work for me anyway !)

I thought toe sliders are just there to protect your boot when they touch down just before you grind your footpegs on the ground.

Riding with duck feet doesn't help with gauging how much lean is left.

Your foot pegs will start to lift when you've got no more ground clearance and can touch the ground before your boots/toe sliders.

As they hinge and have blobs underneath this isn't quite as dangerous as it sounds.

They do, well on boots that cost more than £30 :P

Ceramic ones on my boots, makes you go EVEN FASTER when you get your toe down - FACT!!!!!
