hahaha! I did that on my first time at Swinley as well in August. Luckily it was a solo ride so no-one could laugh at me.

I'd have thought the trails I was thinking of were only used by the downhillers there. Surely they are too steep, have big drops, tight turns, and very narrow - for dogs and sleds to go down them?!

Hopefully we can out pace them if they do come after us!!

I found Swinley info on this page. I think I do most of my riding in the Expert Mountain Bike area indicated on the map pdf.

Might pay £18 for an annual permit instead of paying £2 a day.

You can get a half year permit now, I just bought one for £13 here. Not sure if they ever check but the money goes to keeping the tracks maintained so a good thing really.

Found this video of Swinley on the net.

http://www.pinkbike.com/video/34856/

I want to eventually be as fast as these guys and not be slow and gasping for breath like I am now. I'd prob scare myself going that fast actually.

The two trials I recognise cos I've done them is Babymaker, just after the rest and he cleans the camera @ 226.0. The one straight after @ 286.0 that is Corkscrew.

Aww so XC riding is more your thing?
Too much effort for me I'm afraid! I prefer the crazy steep downhill runs- with the huge drops and big jumps. Which is even more fun when riding a hardtail dj setup bike!

LOL.. was going to ask if you're one of those downhillers with all the gear & fs bikes that has to walk the bike up the hills

Nice vid, I don't know the names of many but can find my way around. So corkscrew is one with logs on eiher side of path, thought corkscrew was the slow technical one going thru the pine forest with all the exposed roots.

Haven't been all summer, but up for doing pedal power soon. Am away this weekend, but anyone fancy going the following on? Sat morning 18th??

What's the other forum??

Downhill??? Too tough for me. I tried this easy 20-25ft slope in Cademan Wood, National Forest near Coalville, Leicestershire a few weeks back. Got told to just roll down and then brake at the bottom.

That's not me or my photo btw, I stole this pic of the slope!

I fell off at the bottom in a speed wobble! (twice as I had to try again and someone else had to help my bike up as I had enough problems climbing up the slope myself it was so steep).

Dunno if I've gone through a slow technical one with roots. I think Corkscrew is a series of dips and elevated hairpin bends.

I'd prob be up for the 18th if the other forum, which I dare not mention in public haven't organised one for that day.
