Nothing you can do about it but I see it as a symptom of a very sick society. One that is showing every sign of destroying itself just like the Roman Empire did.
Never mind the Chinese will take over and sort it all out.

My view is that he's made it clear that he wants to go. SAF can't spend every summer distracted by trying to persuade him to stay. £80m? Off you go, son. Good luck, thanks for all you've done and see you when we meet in Europe.

With regard to TW's view, Utd have debts but the banks are happy with the financing of these. The £80m is availabe for players if SAF wants it.

Frank Ribery will do for starters
A shock return from Beckham would more than satisfy me

Rumour has it, he's off back to Real with all the dream boys. They're trying to bring a new revolution of Galactico's over there.

They wont tax the 80m on its own, it will be offset by the clubs overall profit and loss at the end of the finacial year. but yes Man U are a very profitable club so their corporatian tax will be significant.

Ronaldo might be one of only a couple of players to be paid £10m a year (plus sponsorship deals etc) but let's not forget that in the grand scheme of things in the world of entertainment that's not a massive sum. Hollywood actors frequently net well over $50m in a single year, and their careers can last far longer than a footballer's can. Obviously there aren't as many, but in terms of being paid big money for entertaining people it's exactly the same.

Footballers (much like actors) get paid only a fraction of what they generate. As long as people of the world continue to throw money at these things then the people involved will be paid well for doing them, and the best will be paid the most.

@ those saying he's not very good. He's the worlds best player by far...

I hate him, hate his paddies, hate his looks, he's a greasy rich mummies boy who has a right stinking paddy when things don't go his way.

But there isn't anyone in the world better than him. End of.........

So what its £80 million. That moneys coming IN to our country, so whats the problem? Football is one of the worlds largest sports, and value goes up, so it was going to happen sooner or later..
