Car hit bike just behind front wheel and apparently a plug wire was knocked/pulled loose from the coil.
Bike was just topped off with fuel and when it went down and some leaked out of the tank (filler cap) onto the still running (and firing) engine.
Pretty much instantly burst into flames as it was falling over.
Car was moved to avoid fire.

Despite crash and fire, the rider was OK!
(other than losing a bike)

Saw this picture a couple of years ago ( not my pic ) - it couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch!
My IAM examiner laughed like a drain!

Meanwhile, a police car pulled up on the A171 near the junction with Harwood Dale so that traffic could be diverted.
A police spokesman said: "Four trainee motorcyclists from the Humberside force then came over the brow of the hill going down towards the police car in the dip.
"Three pulled up, but the fourth did not spot the car until too late. He jammed on the brakes but skidded into the vehicle. The rider suffered a bruised shoulder and the driver of the car was unhurt."
