When Pegasus was up at Ullapool, end of May, he gave himself Monday off work to travel back . What he didn't expect was the weatherman to then hand out gale force winds and severe weather warnings for heavy rain. Took him 17 hours to get home! The M6 was closed for a while due to an over turned lorry though. He wished he'd booked off Tuesday......

Re: GM2015 - Getting there thread.
I have only booked off Friday, and that's tough because I've no holiday allowance left, so Monday is not an option now. I'm also working Thursday.
So, hack up the A1/A66/M6/M74 355 miles on Thursday night to KG's house, then up to Kinlochleven on Friday at whatever time suits Marc. Sunday is 455 miles home in one hit I'm afraid, but compared to riding down to Spain last year on a single cylinder trail bike in two hits mostly on country roads, that'll be child's play. I will probably go down to Stirling, M9 to Edinburgh, A68 to Darlington, then I'll decide from there whether it's A1 straight home, or if I've made good time I'll do York, Humber Bridge, then then A15 down to Stamford via Lincoln. For Friday Chucca's route does look good, but I guess that would mean catching you at Balloch at about 11am Dean? I don't know if Marc wants to start that early. |

Re: GM2015 - Getting there thread.
Ok I'm looking for a wee provisional idea of who's gonna come along on the bimble up from Glasgow to the GM via Tayvallich. I know its weather dependent for most but it'd be nice to know whos thinking about it so we don't leave you behind right at the start of the day.
J&S/Gericke/Ducati start (departing 10:00am) carelesschucca (Dean) Inveraray (first stop) SIII (Ron)

Re: GM2015 - Getting there thread.
I'm, er, definitely a maybe! I'd have to get my act together with fitting panniers/packing etc during the week in order to make a 10am start in Glasgow.
Failing that I'd probably try to intercept you somewhere on route by going up via Crianlarich and across but the time saving of doing that may very well not be worthwhile? I'll set my sights on meeting you in Glasgow and see how I get on. As such I'll got for a provisional... &S/Gericke/Ducati start (departing 10:00am) carelesschucca (Dean) Sputnik (Brendan) Inveraray (first stop) SIII (Ron)

Re: GM2015 - Getting there thread.
Mel got an early finish sanctioned, so we be setting off about 3:30pm Thursday, stopping in Penrith on the way up. Will just bash up the M6 and have a scenic ride the rest of the way on Friday.
