Are you still on the cg125?

I regularly ride to work at 5:30 am , great fun when you wanna open her up a bit and stretch the legs of the SV .................. BUT . Don`t feel any better or safer about that feeling folks when there are less cars around . There seems to be an abundance of Milkmen with Suicidal driving skills , we also have the nightlife that has the amazing capacity to pagger across the road at full tilt ............ that ickle bunny the other day nearly got hit by me . I swerved 2 times and still managed to miss him

On the days I take a lorry out I start at 04:30.

If a) there is no frost
b) it is not actually raining (no where to leave wet gear)

I go on the bike, bl00dy good fun but lessons learnt to date are

The doves and pigeons are not fully awake, hang around in the gutters and fly up into your face from about a foot infront of the front wheel.

Deer cross the road in line astern! If you see one there are more comeing.

Sheep like to lay in the road.

All of the above are less of a hazard than numptys on mobiles.

set off for work everyday at 6.00. mostly country roads.
so yes i am pretty much on my own and i do arrive at work with a grin on my face, doesn't last though.
the hazards are still there though if only in different guises, tractor mud, loose sheep, lambos in the summer and blooby cyclists four a abreast.

It truly is amazing how much more stupid the wildlife can be during the early hours. It's as if they wake up each morning and hope that those noisy death boxes might not turn up today. Pheasants are dumb at the best of times, but approach one at speed in the morning at your own risk. Rabbits also seem to forget about the dangers of roads each night too. Pigeon dodging does get the heart racing though doesn't it?

The best rides I've ever had have been on moonlit summer nights. Cool crisp air, not too dark, quiet roads and a bike which always seems to feel that bit quicker in those conditions.

Is it busy at night? I considered going all the way along the A13 this afternoon into london, but i wasnt familiar with the roads around there (didnt want to end up on a motorway) and it was very busy.

Yes Magnum, in the summer I get up at 5 and go for a nice blast. It's great although there are cute little bunnies everywhere on my route so you have to still be careful.
