You know, Matt, it's about getting to time where we should hook up for a ride and natter about guitars and all things ROCK, I reckin.
Then, I can show off my can and battle scars, you can show off your can and bellypan and we can have some fun giggling at your topbox!!! ![]() ![]() |

So- is opening the topbox a bit like that suitcase in Pulp Fiction? You see a strange glow from the box, a look of wonder on our faces and still, no one knows what's in there!
Enfield? That's a bit of a commute! January sounds good, as does the Ace- be good to go there. Especially if they're filming 5th Gear- we could give Vicky Butler-Henderson a dry slap and tell her not to be such an idiot in front of the camera (or anywhere else for that matter!). Maybe wait until I have my new springs and hoses on too (hosiery- OO-Er!), so I can REEALLY show off my bike- and maybe a new fairing too. Even though the scars give it character! Another quick question for you folks who know- the instructions say 50mm for the cut- a few people have said leave more pipe on than you think you need- should I give it an extra 10mm for this, or will it cause trouble with the fitting? |

I used a junior hacksaw to do mine and it was easier than I thought it would be. Just make sure you have a metal cutting blade, I started with the blade the hacksaw came with and it wasn't getting anywhere, then switched it to a metal cutting blade and was easy!

Cheers all- just about ready to go. Given the bike a quick clean- couldn't fit a new exhaust on a filthy bike, now, could I?

Don't forget its really important to start the bike up before you fit the can onto the cut pipe.

Hey all. Yep it's all on and working (remarkable, considering I did it...!)
All I can say is Oh My God! It's rather loud without that baffle, isn't it. Had me grinning from ear to ear as I went up through the revs. I wouldn't say she feels faster now, but it's definitely a lot smoother all the way up the rev range and there's no tail off after 600rpm. Did I mention that she's rather loud?! Started the bike without a can- but didn't leave it on for long- figured the neighbours will get plenty upset with me from now on as it is!!! What a difference it is though. Sawing the old can off only took about 25 mins of graft- I think the bundled mint cake helped that along! Was a bit fiddly lining it up so it'd fit to the hanger and it took an abortive attempt with the hanger to realise that both sides of the bracket go on one side of the hanger, but got there in the end. Just have to clean off some of the heat seal and polish her up and all will be well. It was absolutely bloody freezing out there this evening though! Ooh my gods it was ****ing cold! Glad to be home in the relative warm of my flat. Thanks all for your help and advice with this and much respect to Fuel, who provide great customer service and lovely exhausts!!! Pics and movies will follow. ![]() |

Im jelous, I want to fit mine! For me, christmas day will be lovely. For the people of east sussex, not so great as I'll be tearing about
![]() Yea, it is a bit of a journy from enfield to kingston, but it only really takes an hour so its not that bad. I dont loose much study time commuting because in previous years when it was just me and maria, i would loose the same amount of time through shopping, cooking, cleaning. Anyway, pics would be great ![]() ![]() I'm jelous But soon, I'll have just the same Will I need to do anything else to the bike? Matt |
