Yes I think people do completely overlook how dangerous cars/bicycles/just walking down the street/going downstairs can be!

I'd give my car up before the bike - in fact I hardly use the car as I (ironically!) feel far safer on the bike!? I think its the fact that Im not closed in and dont get stuck in traffic etc. I only have the car for transporting paintings - my son is soooo embarassed by it - its an old banger of a Daihatshu

I don't count MCN readers as bikers. I prefer to call myself a motorcyclist anyway, 'Bikers' always conjures up images of cruiser riding bald blokes with beards and cut-off denims over their 1970s style leather jacket, or even worse a trike driver (you don't ride anything with more than 2 wheels, you drive it)
