It's very nice
![]() ![]() There's not a single way in which that's not better than the stock one I reckon.

I had a go on one while the Daytona was being serviced. If I didn't like th eride to the folks in the summer and trackdays so much I'd have one in a shot. I scared myself silly on it though. I've heard about hooligan machines but this made me feel like I could do anything. Getting back on the Daytona calmed me down. Oh yeah, they are small!

I've just come back from a test ride on one. Very nice, riding home the SV felt very long, low and fairly reluctant to rev in comparison.
It feel a lot less relaxed than an SV (naturally part of this is an unfamiliar bike/worrying about dropping it more, but I've felt much more relaxed than this on other test/hire bikes). Definately a bike for fun and recreation rather than day to day use or long distance, although to be fair the screen deflects a lot more wind than it looks like it should and motorway speed was a lot more comfortable than I was expecting. Quick to turn in and good quality suspension although there was something not quite right about it that I couldn't put my finger on- almost felt too 'floaty' and insulated from the road in spite of it managing to also feel reasonably taut at the same time. The engine is great, not quite as much engine braking as the 1050 triple engine, but bags more power than I expected and still retaining a lot of the low down torque of the bigger triumph bikes (although it was a bit less of a 'put it in any gear' one). Most road riders would struggle to use full power on this bike with any sort of regularity, when I mentioned to the guys in the showroom that trying it actually put me off the triple a bit (extra insurance and cost for even more power than I can handle and less good handling) they said they'd already had 2 existing speed triple owners chop their bikes in for street triples. They might be the best standard wheelie bike out yet according to the magazines, but accidental power wheelies were nowhere to be seen even when cracking the throttle wide open on the open road. Good brakes, but I didn't have to use them really hard. It's less cramped/uncomfortable than the looks would suggest, I'm almost 6'2" and I was fine on it. My only slight reservation about the riding position is the handlebars- they were angled so they went up at the ends. I've ridden bikes with flat bars, renthals, clip-ons and dropped bars before, but never ones like these. It felt a bit off and even compromised my control a little bit. The guy pointed out you could change the angle easily by just undoing the bar riser bolts and rotating it. On this note, has anyone seen a street triple with clip-ons on and if so, could you provide a pic? I have seen a couple of speed triples with them, but just want to see what a street triple looks like with them on as if I got one, it'd probably be my first mod after crash bungs. In the flesh they're lovely looking bikes, a little less so than the speed triple, but almost as nice. I thought I'd opt for one without the screen if I got one, purely for aesthetics, but having seen how much they do to break up the airflow, I'd be reluctant not to get one, even if I only fitted it for longer trips. |

I test rode both the street and speed 3's last year and have to admit that the speed 3 would be my weapon of choice...
The street just felt too small and screamy for my liking... |
