Best of all, this can is NOT stamped 'not for road use' or similar
With the change in the law, a can no longer has to be 'E' marked. As long as it doesn't specify race use only or similar, it is up to the MOT testers discretion as to whether or not it passes (without the incriminating stamp, it's not so easy for plod to ticket you either!)

Not the end of the world.
That's not so bad, as long as no points are involved!

Legally the dealer is supposed to sell the bike in full road legal trim, that includes the exhaust. They may have the OEM one laying around, they don't have to have it fitted to the bike when it leaves the showroom but the bike must be sold with a road legal exhaust by a registered trader!

That's what I was hoping. By definition, would that mean having to have one which explicitly says it on the exhaust?

Total BS i am afraid, if it ain't stamped at all it is not road approved!

Basically the vehicle must be sold with a road legal exhaust unless the vehicle is to be used for off road purposes only! A road legal exhaust does not have to be fitted but must be supplied at the time the vehicle is handed over!

Ask them to see if they have the OEM can, many Honda owners are good with things like this and will often hand over OEM parts when they sell the bike. If they do not have it ask for a discount of some sort to claim for a road legal exhaust, a removable baffle one is best as you can have race can noise one day and quiet and legal the next.

It's a dealer, Stratstone in Clay Cross. The definately said that there was no original can. But I guess an original one wouldn't be much off ebay. Still, want it to be sold road legal in the first place.
