![]() The Their / There thing isnt too bad remember imo. Their = someones e.g. "Their bike". There means somewhere e.g. "Their bike is over there" |

slighty
I get letters jumbled up in words, and I can write a word down and then look at it and it looks "wrong" I cant really explain it, it just looks like I have the right letters in the word but in the wrong order. Or the word just looks like I have spelt it incorrectly even though the spellchecker says not. I also have another thing where I can write down a colum of numbers and then I loose my place in the column when I'm adding them up, the numbers all jumble themselves up. Again its hard to explain. I know I do stuff like this so I make sure I use the spellcheck and I proof read my documents through two or three times and I also get somebody else to check it through before I submit it. Same with the budget proposals, I normally type it all into Excel and get that to do the hardwork for me.

I'm crap at spelling, punctuation and grammar.
I often miss out the 's' on the end of things as well. I'm just incredibly crap, never been told I'm dyslexic though. I can read things through twice, or three times when posting on this forum and it will still have a ton of mistakes in, because I read it how I think it should be and not how it is. Personally I think its a load of ******** and just an excuse for being crap at things.

"Diagnosed" with cross latteral dyslexia at 15 'cos my brother was having a lot of trouble at A levels and it's hereditary.
To be honest, it doesn't hold me back, even though my job is getting snowed under by more and more paperwork, I can do nearly all of it on a PC which checks it for me. I am (hopefully) intelligent enough to know the differences between the there/their and other similar pitfalls. I have had a lot of help from the Royal Society for Help for Dyslexia, www.RSDH.com and I have spotted the irony of using a PC to check my work 'cos I'm a PC etc......!

No worries - that will be the OCD kicking in I guess
![]() IME the reading and writing stuff comes under the heading "use it or lose it" - I became pretty good at formal letter writing for work, either being very precise in my communications. or not ![]() ![]() |

Slightly off topic but I used to suffer from a syndrome called 'synasthesia' I think its called that anyway, when I was younger, certain words or numbers used to trigger a colour reaction so for instance 'home' might be orange or '13' might be red, its hard to explain and to be honest I thought everyone was the same, it seemed to vanish in my teens, wierd though.
