Can't argue with the sound either

TLS?
xNM at 5krpm will be so much less BHP than an IL4 making the same at 10krpm.
Are you sure it will feel like less?

Yes less bhp, but the low end on the IL4 will feel weaker even if it's atually similar.

So which will accelerate faster? the twin at 5k or the 4 at 10K? (assuming same weight bike etc.)
Or are you comparing the feeling of the twin at 5K with the 4 at, say, 7K?

Obviously the IL4 making it's torque at higher revs thus more power will accelerate quicker.

All I'm saying is a twin feels torquey low down compared to an IL4 which has that top-end rush of power. With power delivery you feel contrast more than absolutes.

so, which v-twin after the sv? :P jokin! was just wondering what people thought would be a good step up from the sv, without going down the cbr/gsxr/supersport route. I think I'll be happy with my sv for atleast 5 years since my level of skill is no where near what the sv can do - and it's a cracking bike, just needs a nice tail tidy and one or two other bits

this applys to most people, the average rider cant push the limits of his/her machine, i like the big v twin because its sneeky fast and at the same time a lazy ride with no gear changes so i can enjoy where i'm going more at ease.

Their is, as said before a suprising amount of engine brake on high capacity IL4's, but if you wanted to stay with a twin and move up from a sv, it would have to be a KTM RC-8. My mates just got one and their mint

I vote a white duke 848, I would have one instantly if I could afford it

Those KTM's are stupidly nice as well though, one passed me on the way home from skeg the other week.
