The FF would have been tower follow spot and might not have lead to anything else.. the work placement i'm on at the moment has the potential to lead to a full time job that is about to open up... so i'm being sensible and hating every second of it!

The problem is that it doesnt matter what the gig is I have to be careful not to let people down at this stage of the career as it has the potential to backfire on me later for a short term fantastic opportunity.. I just have to hope there are many more out there for me in the future.

.. cant you tell that I'm trying to be philosphical about it all today??

At least make sure placement know what you are giving up for them (& maybe ask if they can find someone else to cover while assuring them that you won't let them down.)

dont worry I've made sure they know .. but there isnt any chance of getting time off for it as when i turned it down they had to get someone else straight away so the position has now been filled

Whilst it sucks - I think that you've made the right call with regards to the future opportunities that both things would be able to offer you.

So, here's hoping the next time you are offered the chance to work a Foo Fighter's gig it's because you're gonna be runnign the show.

Sound advice however, the work placement is part of my course and as such it's still not advicable for me just to let them down to swan off to better things as I still need the peice of paper come graduation time (which isnt too far off now!).

I'm also aware that I'm being offered a lot of things right now due to my college connections so I really cant be seen to let anyone down and ruin potential prospects in the future.

The evil part of me however wanted just to say yes and to hell with it.. I hate being so sensible at times
