Been trying to find the post... Basically, Rob cut back a Race filter and discovered that the filter element intruded far enough into the filter body that he couldn't desnorkel it as far as an RS. But I wouldn't rule out that I'm misremembering, it may have been a Road. Wish I could find it.

The Road filter is a smaller diameter Northy, perhaps it was this filter that was being cut back? The actual filter element is the same on the Race as on the RS.

Have a close look at the pic of my desnorkled road a few posts back. It's got a pretty large hole. From what I can make out from pics it's very similar. It's as far back as you can go. The limiting factor with it is the size of the opening in the air box. There's only ~10mm to spare in between the air box plastic and the filter hole.
I'll get a vernier on it tonight. I'm at work at the mo.

Aye that's the crack like. a road will never be anything other than a road snorkle or not. However I'm thinking a race + a big hole = a race RS. As per my butchery skills as demonstrated with my road. I've got some 165 and 170 mikunis now so I'm all set jet wise. I've also got 160, 152.5s and some 144 dynojets. which are tiny ! The 170 mikuni next to the 144 dynojet looks twice the size.

These are the specs are per BMC....

Road - The one to use with slip-ons and basic full systems.

Race - Same design as the road but has a free flowing filter membrane.

Race RS - Is a de-snorkled BMC Race.

Race SP - Is a BMC RS with a free flowing filter membrane and a filter in the base.

Calsport say:

The filter 205/10RS is available but the importer has to order in units of 10 and they have no stock. The last consignment were sold to a Company called JHS. They suggest you give them a call to see if they have any left. Their number is 0117 9868844.

dappaD tried to get one from JHS a few weeks ago and they were having none of it without selling him a jet kit and set up. Something like £260 !
