I work for Saga in customer services; it's considerably more intense than my degree, I don't have stupid targets for my degree (well, I do, but not daily, weekly monthly, bi-annual and annual targets for earning money, quotations policies and productivity)

I gave my ex-wife a shopping scooter as a punishment for continually blowing up her cars*, I nicknamed it the Jewish-bike because it was a Yamaha Passola** and was so miserly on fuel. I thought it should have been called the Yamaha Passover.

* One two year old Suzuki Swift GTi ran dry of oil and never serviced from new and 27,000 miles. A Suzuki Alto also run dry of oil within 6 months/10,000 miles, and a Mini Mayfair 1000 she blew the gearbox and diff out of... literally, within 3 weeks of me buying it. That one had the diff explode and send bits of shrapnel into the passenger compartment through the one-off W+P style dash and centre console. She's lucky none of it got her legs and feet. When asked how she managed it, she said "It goes much better in 3rd, so I leave it there". I divorced her because she was obviously as dumb as a box of rocks.

** I got my own back, I wrote the Passover off by hitting a bus.

I have about 17k debt from my student loan. Its an acceptable debt though because the way I see it, my three years at uni was an investment in my future. Its also enabled my to start on a relatively good salary compared to some of my friends without a degree...a 4-5k difference

I couldnt study and hold down a job because I had to use all the available time I had to catch up and make extra notes because I missed out loads of what was said in lectures because of my hearing impairment

My middle daughter is a 2nd year student at Linclon, she runs a 2002 Fiat Punto and goes out on the lash every weekend, I have a 1995 Nissan Micra and her mum drives a 2004 Skoda Fabia. We choose to pay bills rather than drink.

Yeah I agree, investing in education is never a wrong thing to do.

Obviously each person has different circumstances - my comments were only generalised. My problem is that I seem to know too many dossers so it skews my perception!
