That's a damned good compliment indeed.

'You make a great Dad, Mum'

My oldest lad when he was around 9.

I brought my children up on my own from when the lads were 6 and 7 and I was 3 months pregnant with my daughter. I always played football with them, took them off to play war games and build dens and camp fires in a local wood, and generally tried to make sure the lads didn't grow up wusses

When Lupo died, I phoned up Mina's breeder to let them know what had happened (we couldn't not tell them incase it got back to them that we had a dog put to sleep and they thought it was Mina!) and to have a chat about everything. I was in tears on the phone as it was so hard to talk about and I really felt like i had let Lupo down. Jill gave me the biggest compliment (Hyteton Malamutes are the best breeder in the country), she said that when she considered new owners for the pups, they did their research on us and decided that they couldn't think of better "parents" for one of their pups and they know we will do anything for our dogs. She said that Lupo couldn't have wanted for better owners and for that they would happily give us a puppy.

Coming from such a good breeder and hearing what she had to say about our decision regarding Lupo, i felt so much better and less of a failure. We called them back 2 weeks later and asked for another dog and they have said yes!

I don't remmeber compliments very well lol, but I remember when I first started volunteering at a Red Kite centre and one of the really knowledgeable blokes there asked me in the car the latin name for the bird just randomly and I knew it, he said "Very impressed with that", made me grin for a bit hehe.

P.S. Tis Milvus milvus if anyone's interested lol

I'm really close to my youngest daughter even though she's not my own. One of my prized posessions is something she bought at the seaside for me about the same time as she came out with the earlier quote. When her brother and sister went and bought ice creams she came back with a cheap plastic keyring with what looks like a cartoon turkey in the centre and the text "The best dad in the world". I don't believe it for a second, but it always makes me smile when I see it in the drawer (I stopped using it because it was getting too scratched).

Today I sent her a text wishing her a happy holiday in Portugal this week, I got the message back "Fank yew, I'll bring you back some sand lol. Luv yew xx"

I absolutely love my kids to bits.

Apart from the things maria always says to me (stuff which means alot and makes me smile and gets me through the day), compliments are far and few between. I guess my riding instructor said some nice stuff, he told me he was dead impressed with my slow control for someone who hadn't had really any riding experiance on a manual. That made me feel good, I don't often get told when I'm doing something right
