ive just had a 2003 pointy unfaired sv650, (the one in the pic) 12k miles, stubby art can, rear hugger, belly pan, screen, rear seat, custom paint job, renthal streetfighter bars and its in mint condition and it cost me £1700. that was brought from a private seller. diffinatly go private.

how? where? I need a decent bargain bike but I'm in a rush as I have no form of transport atm!

if you find a bike you want contact the seller and view it first, dont be a sucker and buy it then view it, could go wrong.

it also took me 3months of looking to find the right one at the right price, you saaid you were in a rush, but sometime waiting is best.

A good place i found for reasonably priced k4/5/6/7 sv's is bike trader. not great deals, but you can normally be certain that they are genuine

A little tip for you as you are tall , a K3 model Pointy has a slightly higher subframe on the back , I have one of these and have some racing rearset plates flipped upside down to give me a bit more leg room , don`t have any cramping issues anymore
