I have to agree that it does not look like 122mph and with the spray and error report it would be a very dubious conviction.
Then again I am a disgruntled person with regard to speed cameras knowing by personal experience just how much the can misread when not operated correctly.
Considering the panning and oncoming traffic breaking the field of vision I think a good brief would have that dismissed

I agree though MissYC he's an idiot. I'm sure if the headline read instead biker loses control of Busa and kills son at 122mph he'd be flamed relentlessly even if why he lost control wasn't toally his fault, it's the action that's wrong, not the consequence.
Yes! I can testify to that, so can my recently broken elbow and wrist, still hurts now as well!

If you are that worried about your son, you shouldnt take him on the back at all, you could cause him all manner of serious injuries at totally legal speeds. I broke several bones coming off at 20mph...

Is it just me or did anyone notice the brake lights come on?

That bit of film cant be what got him done. That was not more than 70,and if he went round that bend at 122 he would have binned it.There wouldnt have been all this media hype if it had been a car caught doing 122 with a teenager passenger would there?More hysteria I fear.

The guy's a tool. He went faster because it began to rain. That alone is reason enough to take his license away, he was probably more concerned about his bike staying shiney than his son.

Narrow camera angle makes it seem slower than it is (and makes the corner seem sharper than it is), the other vehicles appear to be doing about 20mph and it's obvious he's going a lot quicker, so assume the cars are at the NSL and it's not hard to conceive that he's doing 120mph. Plus he confessed.

it wasn't exactly sensible IF he was doing that sort of speed, but he got caught and has admitted it so fair enough give him a ban and a fine. but prison?! that's ridiculous! do we not hear about the prisons in this country being full as it is? so why put this bloke in there for that? to me there's far more serious criminals out there who should have his potential place in prison!!

Although I doubt it, would the fella actually have been able to see the vid before admitting he reached that speed? As it would make more sense to argue the equipment was faulty....

Yes but its an easy nick. Why spend lots of time and resources going after real criminals who are difficult to catch and can be dangerous, when you can make ordinary bikers like this into criminals so much more easily.

It doesn't matter what the video showed or what speed he was doing. The news report says "he admitted" which means he entered a guilty plea. Idiot.

The camera's clearly showing an error (error 03 meaning "Unstable reading due to poor aim or panning off of target") and all he was doing was speeding so he should have gone for a not-guilty plea and cast doubt on the validity of the measurement.

He made one mistake: it wasn't the speed, it was having a crap solicitor.
