Granted the front bike is a little closer to the focus at that point, but the rider behind would of clearly seen the focus swing left before pulling out - this is probably why they weren't drawn into the accident. Still car driver at fault though IMO. |

That is scary, but as said, credit to the biker for going slow, would he of been if he didn't have the pillion? I dont think there is much the rider could of done to avoid it, it would have been easy for him to be focused further up the queue.
Would it have helped if the GSXR had a loud exhaust and was in a lower gear with high RPM? |

The focus driver had decided to do the manoeuvre And was going to do it regardless. Exhaust noise doesn't travel forward very well. At least not to inside a car. |

Nope not one bit, IMHO dont be fooled into thinking a loud exhaust will catch the attention of a car driver who may well have their car stereo on and turned up loud, or who just isnt paying attention to whats going on around them.

If you read the comments on the you tube link, they posted to say they were OK, but the pillion was still having physio on her back.

Agreed. I got taken out at a T junction and my bike aint quiet. If the driver had so much as rolled his eyes to the right, he would have seen me.

Hmm think I'm going to be a bit outspoken on this one.
Yes the car driver is a total tit and possibly 100% at fault in terms of the law. But, as a biker you have to accept if you 'filter' that close to cars you are going to get hurt. He is far to close too the cars he is overtaking; most of the time he is going past them in the same lane - not even using the cross hatches. Every time you ride between two lanes of traffic you are taking a risk, and its you (and your pillion) that might get hurt. Its all very well blaming the car but he is wrapped up in a steel box and not likely to get hurt. I only go 3 abreast if both lanes of traffic are traveling very slowly. In a situation like that when the oncoming traffic is traveling at a reasonable pace, then i would be tucked well into my lane, waiting for a gap in the oncoming traffic, then blasting past as many cars i can every time there is a gap in the oncoming traffic, but i would only overtake right in the middle of the opposite lane where I can see whats going on, and away from u-turning idiots. In my opinion if you go past cars allowing next to know room like the guy in the vid, then its just a matter of time before some tw&t pulls out and knocks you off. but then if you overtake briskly when there's a gap, its the same time as drivers will do a u-turn. Being half a lane across aint gonna make much difference if someone wants to drive across your path in a split second. Also you'd be likely travelling faster and therefore have less time to react.
