I had a Caberg V2 for a year and regretted it. The lining went hard and thin very quickly and the lid sucked air from below the chin and blew it straight at your eyes, along with any debris small enough to fly in the wind. Used to loose my contact lenses whilst riding, not good.

Now I have an HJC IS-16 because I really wanted to replace it with something that had the internal visor. Loads better and HJC helmets are getting good SHARP ratings. Still pretty noisy though, but I think any lid with a sun visor is going to be unless you spend serious money on one of the top spec Shuberth's. Still you get a lot for your money with an HJC, removable Coolmax linings, etc. I'm told Americans think of HJC as the best helmet brand, same as Arai in the UK, but don't know if thats true.

I'm looking towards an HJC HQ-1 or FS-10 carbon at about £250 at the moment... keep an eye out because there might be some sales on. They look awesome in plain carbon, worth the extra for me.

Sharp rating is a waste time, there have threads on it, don't go by that.

You just have to try loads of lids on, then work what fits and doesn't. I have arai which I like. But I tried on loads of lids, and when you try lids on, wear them for like 5-10 minutes see how it feels after that.

I have a drak visor and regular. I think a dark visor works loads better than sun glasses, but thats just me.

i wouldnt mind one with a removable Dark Tinted Visor .. or one that has this option

Advice and recomendations Welcome !!!
AGV Airtech, K Series, Longway and Stealth are all in that price range.

After market visors can be purchased online or on eBay.

It is best to go to a good motorcycle shop and try on various different helmets in different sizes. Some brands only make one shell size and then alter the padding to make it either XS right up to XL, and once the padding beds in you can find yourself with a helmet and moves around a lot.

i had my heart set on a AGV rossi lid, but it did not fit me.

i tried quite a few and found arai the best fit (for me)
+1

You need to try on everything my first cheap helmet was ok in the shop but not great at high speeds it nearly took my head off.

Even same makes dont have the same fit. For example my Shoei XR-1000 fits my head perfectly, yet a shoei RAID 2 doesnt.

I would suggest like others goto the garage try them all on find afew that fit your price range / preferance (just plain black might be hard i can only think of shoei raid2's that are matte black). Then buy em online or from the garage and haggle a discount (i managed to get free stuff anf 20% but only because i asked!!!)

They're not too bad are they. If they made lighterones with dloop fastenings I'd have another.
Know someone that had a bad bad crash in one despite the helmet splitting in two (they really shouldn't do that though ) he was ok. (apart from the broken back)
