My leathers look no different on inside leg than anywhere else (ignore the road rash...)

What it won't do is stop your wrists from aching .......

In my experience they have definitely stopped my wrists from aching. Because pressure at the wrist is greatest when breaking, it makes sense that if you grip with your knees and use your stomach muscles to stop the weight shifting forwards, your wrists are going to thank you for it. At least mine do as I remember how much they ached before I started using the stomp grips.

That's more of a riding technique thing. Most people sit too upright on their bikes which pitches their weight through their arms. Just by bending at the waist and assuming more of a racing crouch, the achy wrists go away. Stomp grip can help with this as you say by gripping the tank, but fundamentally it a riding position thing.

What they will do is save you considerable ballache depending on how good your brakes are.

You can, but it takes f'in ages! One mine, I have 1 bubble on one side, but it is so close to a nobble, you don't notice it

There is a guy on 675.net who did some close up macro shots of his stomp grips - no bubbles! I'm trying to find the pics....
