Sorry Quiff I didn't mean my comment to sound rude. It's just that someone (sorry can't remember who now, well I think I can but don't want to get it wrong, and it's too hot to search anymore) started a similar thread a little while ago and it became a horrible virtual slanging match and bar fight. It then lead to Fizzwheel asking for a full disection of the whole forum. And I thought every possible thing that could be said about derailing was said, and still there are no concrete answers.
Although I do think a few people have had a bit of a think and don't derail nearly as much as they used to. In fact I was saying to a fellow member just the other day how much better IB had become recently with some interesting discussions.
