I've got 23 years in and it's only happened to me twice, it's not nice, we go to great lengths to prevent it going that far, but when it happens you just have to deal with it. Nice result, definitely hero stuff.

Youre lucky then. My mate who's a fellow officer has been stabbed twice, shot at 3 times, been attacked numerous times (using all manner of weapons), been rammed into many times in the car, been pushed down stairs and been bitten twice and hes only been in the force 3 years, including his probation, he still oves it though. Sadly its part of the job, and no i agree that you shouldnt have to be faced with that, but it does go with the job. Lucky that you were not injured in this instance. My mate is currently firearms training! I call him lucky...!

My God! Where does he work? Yeh, I have been bitten a few times, punched almost every set of shifts, nearly strangled, etc etc.

The intention of this thread was merely a lighthearted one showing my relief, not meant to be a discussion about what is in my job description!

Was he shot, or shot at?. There was the incident involving the youth on the pedal cycle who shot at two coppers who tried to nick him......

The subtle hint is when you get issued a stab vest.

Not very heroic when its saving your own... (was gona say bacon.. but maybe not) ass. Thats just self preservation, human nature.

But good shout anyhoo! Well done! Hope you gave them the smack down.
