Aye M62, in the dark, with a satnav i can see glowing from behind, obviously issuing the instruction "keep right" as they are crawling along at 40 mph in the fast lane! It happens a lot

Yeah but, your map can't take you to 62 acacia ave, and when people that like to think they are posh and do not have a door no, you just input postcode and it takes you there. Obviously common sense has to be used as well.

A work colleague was once amazed when his TomTom took him through a maze of streets in very rough estate and then a council roads depot before bringing him out on to the M25 through one of those "official use only" barriers. He got away with it too. The same colleague was also lead to the back of our business park and told to go through the bus only gated access road - he turned back at that one as it has cameras.

I'll stick to a map for quite a while yet I think.

Maybe they are too poor to have one.

me prat-nav directed me onto the motorway through the centre of glasgow to get to bearsden which was 8 miles from where i started and this was the shortest route - i despair sometimes at it!

As has been stated previously sat nav is a tool just like a map and any tool is only as effective as the person using it. Common sense should be used as should other senses. Also only as good as maps that are on it. On a street near myself they have closed of a number of roads as no right turn or bus access only but sat nav still tells me to go that way(with latest maps) luckily council have put signs up to inform me sat nav is wrong can only presume that after reading some of the storiesnot all councils are so considerate as to put signs up. Then again maybe people just dont look.

Guess that's why you shouldn't use tomtom riders in a car....
