Sorry to go O/T, what did you think of the Bandit? After a cramped 500 miles through France on the SV recently, I am seriously thinking of the the Bandit GT for my next bike.

Hey, plus one on that!

I would like a big ol' bandit 1250 GT. Looks like just the kind of touring monster me and my girldfriend could do with.

However, I had a bandit 650 for a litle while, and it was alright but maria hated the high-frequency vibrations through the footpegs and grabrail

I love the 1250 Bandit, every now and again my local deal lend me one as a courtesy bike.

Big Comfy seat, decent screen on the faired one, riding position is comfortable. Engine is silky smooth and pulls and pulls like a train in every gear. Brakes were good to. Not as nimble as my GSXR or an SV, but then its a different style of bike so to make that comparision is a little unfair. It does tend to take a bit of muscle / bodyweight to steer and I pushing on hard exposed the chassis a little and it felt to me a bit like it had a big hinge in the middle of it.

If I wanted a bike for a long distance commute / long touring trips that kinda riding I'd be serioulsy considering a 1250GT Bandit.

Cheers. Is it useable on a daily basis e.g filtering? The GT seems unbelievably good value for money....

I think a history is well overrated. What's in it on any bike you're likely to buy? £100 if that.

I really liked it. Didn't think i would ever need a big cc bike and it really changed my mind. I had an old style 600 bandit a few years back and found it too heavy and revy. The 1250 was just so useable even at slow speeds. Not sure how long i would keep my license on one though! Its also a lot more comfy than the SV and it confirms that i do miss upright bars.

Every story has an ending ...

I called the dealer on Monday and explained (complained about) the situation and they reassured me that will do everything possible to have the bike back on the same day. They even offered to book me in on Tuesday (today that is) and said the first service would be at a reduce rate of £65 + parts.

Well the final bill was £124.22 (sounds familiar?) which was their £65 + £26 for oil + £9.28 filter + £2.63 oil disposal + £5.11 grease and brake cleaner ( I wonder how they worked this one out) + 15% VAT ... I need to add £10.60 for my travel card and a day off work.

At least I have a genuine Suzuki stamp o the book in case I might need to use the warranty in some unfortunate event. From the job sheet, it doesn't look like they did anything much other that oil change, lubrication points and fluids checks.

Bottom line, next service I will do it myself as I would expect probably to cost around £200 at the dealer. For this kind of money I would get a very decent oil, genuine parts, nice toolbox, bbq food and beer while admiring the work ... probably something for the kids as well ...

On the good side ... wow ... 8000 rpm is so much more fun )

Thank you all for the sensible advice. Much appreciated.
Andy

Andy it looks as though we were stung by the same Bee? when your ready for your next service I suggest that we get together have a party with the savings and service the bikes togther (left it open for comments about us servicing each other)
And your right it IS good to use a few more revs, roll on the blood line?
