Idle speed should be approx 1300rpm. I'd also check the clamps holding the throttle bodies on are tight, the vacuum point rubbers are intact and, if you have gauges (or can borrow some) the throttle body balance.

Haven't checked the oil for a bit actually, will make a note to do that tomorrow. There's a tiny bit of visible smoke (nothing major at all) upon start up, but once the bike's warmed up it goes away.

Just adjusted the idle from 1000 to about 13-1400. Hopefully that will have sorted the problem!
