I had a dt125 and went straight to an sv no probs after passing my test, my mate steve had a cbr125 and went to a k5 no probs. Warren passed his test n got a lovely k3 for a first bike, my mate Ryan got a k3 for a first bike and had a slight scuff because he decided to de-restrict it and take it out on slippy roads, ended up kissin the back of a car that stopped suddenly!
my advice is GET AN SV, TAKE CARE OF IT and KEEP IT 33BHP until you are more than confident and ready to unleash the beast ![]() The advice doesn't get easier than that!!!! ![]() |

I went straight onto a de-restricted curvy after my DAS with no problems ( riding experience before my curvy was a cg125 for 2 days and cb400 for 2 days) as long as your sensible and don't ride outside your means you'll be fine on any bike. As my instructor always said, "the throttle goes both ways"

I managed to go round corners too fast on my 50 and fell off so what your instructor is saying is a load of cobblers really.

My first bike has been the SV and having ridden a bandit since I can understand where your instructor may be coming from.
The pull of the bandit certainly felt alot smoother than the SV, especially at low rev stuff so it feels alot more sedate and predictable, but then wheres the fun in that? The SV is definately no evil monster bike that's going to throw you off on the first corner you come to, it seems to lack the smoothness of the IL4 is all, something which I definately prefer when comparing the 2 bikes. Also, riding a bandit felt like riding a horse, it was so upright! |

Hi
I've ridden Bandits and there fine bikes for commuting , I preferred the orginal Fazer 600 mk 1 though My sv is the most fun though & is also a great commuter as cheap to run Just try as many bikes that you can , you can only tell by riding yourself and everyone opnion is different Cheers Steveg

Not asif i need to wade into the argument but i'd not ridden any bikes before and jumped straight onto a de-restricted SV curvy after my test
![]() Why would you downshift going around a wet bend anyway? If you wanna do it just get the clutch right and you can do it if you want to. Get an SV ^.^ |

Get the throttle blip right and you can downshift all you like on wet bends.
