-2 this morning (there's this thing called '6am' which I don't like much) when I went out to the car to find it completely frosted over. Started it up and set to work with deicer only deicer didn't seem too bothered and so just turned the ice into mush which I still had to scrape off anyway!

Then sat in car with window all steamed up waiting for a large enough patch for me to see through to clear. So this is Christmas....

Would have gotten a pic of my colleague's frosted over Pan in my work's parking but my hands were full.

However, my sympathies to all riding bikes, was me this time last year and I don't fancy it again. Don't forget, an easier solution to cold hands than heated grips.....HG pathans. Brilliantly warm, tested them at -5 last year (god knows what the wind chill at 70mph would have been), but my hands were still warm.

Stay safe all.
I waited! Do I get a medal?! Car was showing -1.5 and -1 by the time I got to work

Sorry De-rail

Everyone be careful out, and watch out for the idiots with the port holes as they are more likely to not see you.

It's illegal to drive like that, you're sposed to have 100% visibility. I don't think it was Daryl's promised -5C but it was very cold.

Got rudley awoke by the missus...
His car door won't shut. and the pad lock on the gate is frozen We're going to be late for school.

I get out of bed, get dressed, hand keys over to my car over to my missus.

"take my car" i said.

"It's frozen over." she replys.

"Deeeeeeerrr.. it still a car which is not locked in."

I go and get kettle with COLD water in... and pour it over my windscreen. and put the wipers on..

She leaves... With kids.

I get the blow torch from garage and carfully heat up the pad lock...
then gently apply some heat to her car door lock that will not shut...
4 mins later all is well.
Calm down dear, it's only a lack of temprature.... Springs to mind.

also told her if it's the same tomorrow, simply open the car and start the engine and let the car warm up, then lock the car with my keys.
(It's not against the law to leave your car running..if the car is sitting on your own property and is locked in by gates, before you all start to state otherwise)

Isn't leaving a car idling when it's really cold not that great for the engine? Better to start it up and get going and run it properly (albeit more gently until it's warm)?

I heard opposite, if you run it when really cold you put stress on the engine, by putting it on tick over you warm the engine up with less stress?!?!?!

It says in the handbook for my car that you shouldnt let it idle to warm up due to increased emissions and less fuel economy
