leedsmatt - i think your right. there needs to be some differances to make things interesting...maria, being half greek-cypriot, has opened my mind up to all sorts of new foods. Her interest in psychology measn there are lots of books which i would have never read but have, and also her enjoyment of fiction means I read fiction books now when I never did.

There needs to be some disimilarities between each other, so you both may expand who you are and find new things in life. Maria had never even thought about motorcycle racing before we met, yet now she does enjoy a good motorcycle race (she shouts at the TV more that I do sometimes!)

A relationship dosnt work though if you have very very differant ideas about how things should be. If maria disliked science and motorcycles, and was an avid christian, we'd never be together

Wow what an amazing response, its great to see how many happy couples are out there and I think that in these times of redundancy and credit crunching etc, etc it just goes to show that the important things are still close to people's hearts.

It also shows a common theme:
Whether you are totally opposite in your ways and thinking or far too similar for comfort (I did check our family trees lol) there is always a soulmate out there for each of us.

Alpinestarhero - The friends thing.... Mr VT was a friend for a few months and one day something happened and we realised what we wanted...each other!
My 2 previous boyfriends were initially my friends and nothing more
(Im still friends with them now). I think that is quite useful being friends first too because then you know what you are letting yourself into.

Leedsmatt- I know what you are saying, however because we are from such different backgrounds (I grew up in South Africa), I have introduced him to a lot of new things that I like and he has done the same.
It's just fortunate that when we do share new things, enjoy them, which I find to be fun and easier.

Ive been introduced to offroading (now I have my own Landie to play in the mud with) and I have introduced him to snowboarding...

Next year, Mr VT is going to be doing his Open Water PADI course with my Instructor and we are going to scuba somewhere (I would love to take him to the Red Sea). I think he will enjoy it as he took to the ocean in South Africa like a fish and we both have a love of marine life.

We've had the same a couple of times with presents buying each other the same present
though we are having more lapses these days which is more reassuring. he always has to ask just to make sure he was right in his thinking

We're very alike in somethings, very different in others.

I sometimes suprise Mrs Druid with guessing exactly what she is thinking, which confuses the hell out of her and I'll get a "How did you know I was thinking that?"

Othertimes I don't have a clue.

Jenn and I have some common interests but other than that, we're worlds apart.

God only knows whats going through her mind at any given point!
