Top one Lynx, for escaping the evil grip o't tube! I become captivated by them whenever I see one. Not just good stuff, but Beebies and dross like Dog the Bounty-Hunter! I don't hear people talking to me when I'm in it's grip!

I do pay the licence, but have calculated on the back of an envelope that for the hour or two a week I watch it costs me about £2 per programme.
I do watch the set more than that, but thats all movies I've bought and paid for.
I listen to the wireless a great deal more, radio 2 and 4 mainly, so although its free, technically I'm happy to support it.

Unfortunately, even if you only listen to a radio you still need a black and white license(don't quote me, but I found this out a few years back, when I was a poor student ). You have a laptop don't you? You can watch iplayer? Therefore I suspect you need a colour tv license to watch that too.

You can swear blind and invite them in to have a look but they'll get you somehow.

Actually, you dont need a TV license to use Iplayer:

and nor do you need a radio license since 1971

Every letter you get, put it through the shredder immediately. Don't open it.

Let them waste their money pursuing you. Don't waste your time and effort because they do not listen. Simples!

We have 120+ channels on cable and the one we watch most? BBC Canada! Some of the Canadian and American channels are terrible, and Canadian comedy is an oxymoron.

I didn't have a TV for years and kept getting nastygrams from them. I once wrote back explaining that I didn't have a TV, which stopped them for a while, but then they started again. I just binned every letter from them and they never actually sent anyone round, despite their repeated threats. When I did eventually get a TV, I got a licence straight away.

What does it take for those to show in TV quality?
When I watch it*, it's a bit blocky with the picture sometimes showing in big rectangles, i.e. lines across the picture and it doesn't always move smoothly, but I believe that when you watch it on virgin media (which uses the same thing) it's perfect

*on my laptop
Mobile AMD Sempron
Processor 3400+
1.8GHz, 1.37 GB of RAM
Whatever that all means, oh and 1 or 2 Mb Internet from Sky - how do you check broadband speeds safely - are those speed check things full of malware?
