How do these Turtle jobbies work then? In order to get surround sound you need to connect the headphones to a HDMI or Optical output.

In order to be able to use the mic you need to connect them to the PS3 via Bluetooth.

They would also need to play back both the sound from a regular bluetooth headset and the sound the regular PS3 sound at the same time.

EDIT

OK, done a bit of Googleing and see that they connect via optical and USB.

Looks like some are marketed as PS3 compatiable when they dont have a USB headphone connecton, just the regular one for the X-Box 360 so be careful.

These look good

+1

Sharkoon Digital Headset are both PS3 & xbox compatible, 5.1 sound. (I have these and they are as good as or better then the average £300 home cinema surround sound system setup)

turtlebeach wireless 7.1 sound but is xbox only

Turtle Beach PS3 Headset Ear Force are stereo for PS3 & PC.

Might invest in some of these, I was thinking of spending hundreds on a full surround sound system but seeing as most of my gaming is done after the missis goes to bed I wouldn't be able to have them on that loud.

Are you aware of any wireless 5.1 PS3 ones, pref that charge from USB rather than take batteries.

there wasn't any wireless PS3 headsets when I was researching six months ago, there maybe some out now but guess it would cost more then the ones we have mentioned?
