One of the obvious interview questions will be around your current employment status and I'd certainly ask a prospective employee what they've told their boss they were doing today. Besides, should you be successful you'll be off to a bad start when they get your sickness record through and see that you pulled a sickie on the day they interviewed you...

You have a right to time off for job seeking when you are being made redundant.If you tell a pack of lies instead of using your right you dont really deserve to get the new job IMO.
