Great arent they? And they get such a bad press from heads up b^m brigade.
Ive got three dogs and BB junior was almost brought up by a particularly opinionated terrier. He turned out ok.(apart from a few disgusting habits of course.

Dangerous dogs... my a**, just incompetent owners. We had an american pitbull years ago in SA. Beautiful dog... 40kg of muscle, my brother called her 'Storm.' We'd run away from her and she'd chase us and jump up on our shoulders knocking us to the ground... or if you ran at her she run at you... and not move out the way: nearly busted my kneecap on her head - dog didn't blink. No one came near our house with the 'lion dog' as the locals called her. Yet she never attacked any friends. She was perfectly controllable.

Only problem was, she was a bit thick. Give her a rubber band - hold the other end - she'd pull it away and *snap*... and you could do that 5 times or so before she realised why her nose was stinging.

She relied heavily on a little street-mutt we'd adopted years earlier. Wirey little thing... but really, really clever. This dog could tell the time of day... she used to jump a 6ft fence and meet my brother and I at the bus stop every afternoon.

Optimal solution = one heavy bruiser of a dog (rottweiller, alsation, doberman...) + one little yapper to alert the muscle.
