A lot of 'biking' kit's overpriced. I got baselayers a hiking shop for less than half the price, seem just as good. However did spend almost £40 on my glorified bin liner (EDZ wind stopper)

I got two sets of thermals from a "bulk buy" shop for £20 and they have served me well through winter, but, I have paid £370 for a helmet before now and it saved my head from the road, so, sometimes you get what you pay for, but, just use common sense. If something simple seems to cost a lot, you are being ripped off, but, if it is something important don't skimp! |

Base layers under my leathers all year round. Can't stand the constricted feeling of wearing anything else under them. Base layers don't have to be expensive - I've bought two sets from both Aldi and from Lidl in those bizarre bike kit sales they have around Easter time each year. I've been using them for about three years now and they've proved to be very effective and have stood up to repeated washes without losing their shape or tightness. Two sets of them with two half zip m/cycling microfleeces cost around £50 when I bought them.
Take your clothes with you and get changed at work. |

Wicking or thermal underwear,LJ's and sleeved vest with leathers or textiles. With the textiles if I remove the winter lining I can wear jeans and a top. Both my leathers and textiles have air vent zips for when it is hot.

I wear textiles for commuting with work trousers and work shirt on underneath and base layers when wearing leathers which are for fun.
