Ok, drained the excess oil so now i can keep a proper eye on it, took out 3/4 of a litre, and only broke one 13mm spanner in the attempt, had to undo the bolt with a large adjustable spanner. Does having too mutch oil in cause any damadge/problems?

I think in a lot of engines it can, the oil expands i believe and doesnt have anywhere to go, not 100% but sure its not good, gaskets etc can be damaged.

The triple engine will just belch out any excess. It's also quite difficult to get a good reading, as it's so sensitive to any hills.
