Rev it more and it'll change its character. You cant ride it like the SV you need to work the throttle and gearbox. Where the SV begins to run out of power, your GSXR will be making plenty. Keep it on the boil i.e above 7000rpm and it'llbe alot more rewarding to ride, keep it above 10000rpm you'll be grinning from ear to ear, dont be afraid to rev it, its what it was designed to do.

Yeah Chris said the same thing. I only rode it Tuesday and that was just up to Poole Quay and back. Will take it out on Saturday and have a proper play. I did think that the Rev counter has a massive scale since I was changing at about 7k. So obviously I wasn't getting the best out of it.

Haha 7k, you were merely getting her warmed up
![]() My mate has a CBR600RR and it just begs to be revved, and trust me, when you rev it, daaaaaaamn it picks up in the high revs. I would say if the SV is in good nick you could easily hit around £2000 for it, as 21k miles really isn't that bad. If you were in Northern Ireland and selling it then you would get probably up to £500 more as vehicles over here seem to always be priced higher than the mainland, haha and by the way, good luck with the sale, let us know when you're successful and get pics of the new baby up asap ![]() Last edited by dill89; 11-06-10 at 02:37 AM. |

Friend of mine has had three GSXR600s and none of them has ever been revved over 6K revs, until I rode them. She was afraid they'd blow up if she did - ffs, she does 2K miles a year and keeps the bike for a max of 18 months a time before buying another new one. Absolute waste of a good motorcycle and in all that time she hasn't really learned how to ride properly because of the fear she has of revving the bike. |

Shut UP !!!!
![]() I rode it once on Tuesday (out on my own) to get a feel for it and get shot down in flames, gimme a blooming chance. Needless to say Chris & I took her out for a "proper" ride today. Chris took my pillion cherry too, which was good fun actually and not hard at all. Then up and around the roads of the New Forest, Bournemouth and Poole ....................... OMG! what an amazing work of mechanical genius. That bike is amazing. YES I will admit that after the low grunty noise of the SV, the scream of the GSXR takes some getting use to. My riding completely changed. My cornering is devine and bends that have had me near on sweating in the past felt comfortable and quicker. I have to say that I love the sweet little bike. I did not wanna come home and even after coming back and cleaning the SV and the GSXR I just wanted to go straight back out again. Thanks for the advice. Learning comes from experience!!!! |

It does. Just keep it in the sweet spot rev wise and dont worry about any lack of engine braking you perceive it may have. The front brakes more than make up for the fact that the engine braking isnt as strong as it is on the SV.
Just watch you dont get sucked into going into corners faster than you are used to. Mine caught me out a few times like that.
