I believe that 2002 regs changed earlier requirements for bikes where the position was more tightly defined (I believe, not absolutely 100% BASAT approved). Now it's just on the left (similar to Lozzo's politics ....

In all honesty, it depends on the Cop that stops you. If you do get a ticket for failing to display, then I would have to say you are very unlucky.

As for the position of the disk, who cares? As others have pointed out, the database is p1ss easy to check. You might get stopped if it's not displayed and then the checks done, sometimes the radio channel is too busy to follow you for five minutes, do the check and leave you be. The regs were put in place long before we could check the database.

Don't sweat it.

Unless you don't have a valid VEL, then it's a large fine on the spot or the car goes to the pound. Even if you pay the on the spot fine, you still have to get a disk backdated to the last time it was taxed or the DVLA will fine you big time.
