Every time I see this thread come up in the subcribed list, I read

"Is it worth trying to sell snow?"

The 245kg you're referring to is the weight of the 1050 SE, which is weighed with panniers on. The weight without panniers and ABS is 228kg. The ABS adds 5 kg and 12kg comes from the rest.

Hey none of this is off topic as far as I'm concerned, I'm enjoying this debate, as I simply love Triumph triples. There's something about a triple... the smothness, the howl.... Next bike is between a Sprint and a Tiger, I like them both for different reasons.

We need to persuade Triumph to put on a demo day someplace handy for all of us, and for them to bring every single model they make

Lots of Kleenex required

I say we vote on it! Too late, we're all in agreement anyway

I've only heard Triumphs in videos and all the reviews... The jap engines I've got to try out in real life.. But the triples elude me still. Hope I get my hands on them in spring. And then lots of pr0n will be filmed and many many wonderful stories written on the subject

I've not tried either but from the marketing thats what I understood.
Im no rossi as you know G, but i rode both and felt the sprint dropped in corners easier and felt more at home to my riding style, but im not saying a tiger in better hands couldnt hold its own, far from it.
Going faster it does require a bit more effort though.
I took the tiger on all type of roads even mways, i found it very noisy and i got blown around a hell of a lot at 90 mph+ whereas the sprint felt / feels really comfortable at speeds well above that.

The Tiger can hustle just as well as the Sprint, you just need to be used to the height, wider bars, upright position, etc, etc. An ST would feel more natural when coming off an SV.

The Tiger is blowy and noisy, but a blade screen like this sorts it out nicely,

Kilted Ginger's Tiger has one and it is serene at speed, whereas the standard demonstrator I rode wasn't. But as Specialone says it's only above 90-100mph that it becomes a problem, and you don't spend long cruising at that speed unless your in Germany!
