Chris Brilliant post, and brilliant idea! I just want it to be special because it was always special for me.

The thought of people alone on Christmas day makes me sad - I hate the commercial side, but I love the way it brings families together!

Cheers danf1234
As an eldest son, at the age when I'm starting to direct myself, I can see all the hassle parents go threw to keep christmas special for me and my brother, and it gets harder for them every year, as me and my brother get older. It makes me happier to help my parents with something that otherwise can be difficult for them at this time. And it saves me venturing out into the dreaded shopping centre :P

I am really struggling this year as well Viney.

I shouldn't really be but I am. The wife and kids are really into it but for some unknown reason I am struggling as well.

I suppose the silver lining to this cloud is that tomorrow is my last day with my current employers and I start a new job on January 4th...

Merry Christmas all!

I love it. I love to buy my friends and family nice things, I love the fact our whole family gets together on Christmas day. I love the dinner, I love the tradition, I love the carols, I love everything about it.

We still, and I am 23 and my bro is 21, don't go downstairs til we've asked Mum and Dad if we can get up. When we get downstairs, we still make dad dish out the presents from under the tree. We always have a cooked breakfast and then all chip in with the dinner.

It always makes me think of the people I have lost, and I also have bad childhood memories to compete with, but I always still manage to enjoy the day.

I take no part in the run up, I can't stand it. I don't start thinking about it until December. Way I see it, if you don't want to bother with it in Novemeber then don't think about it and stop stressing!!!!! Just cos the shops have the stuff doesn't mean you need to go and buy it!

Work been nice and quiet this week, and for me working from home means some time off to spend with the family. Wife and I have done a lot of xmas shopping this week, and yesterday we took my son swimming together. Last night I 'checked all my sons xmas presents were working properly' including his first Scaelextric set , before wrapping them. Today I have got loads of personal stuff sorted that has been hanging over me for months, and on Tuesday night, one thing that's been hanging over me for 15 years.

S**t mood that I've been in for months has lifted somewhat this week. Christmas dinner in our house tomorrow (the French celebrate xmas eve more than xmas day), then xmas morning at home, with afternoon and xmas dinner with the family at my mothers. I'm looking forward to it all.

Merry Xmas folks!

No, you're not.

+1

I also love the Christmas lights, the snow and getting together with friends in the run up to Xmas. Not that I have been able to do much of the latter this year (spent most of Dec in hospital or pretty immobile at home), but I'm damn well looking forward to Xmas Day with some good mates, hubby, new baby and some alcohol again after 9 months off - woo hooo!!!

Like anything in life, I think it is what you make of it...

im not a fan of xmas. never have been. even as a kid my mum had to wake me, Id wait until everyone else had opened their presents before opening mine. Id love to go away for xmas somewhere warm and not have to put up tree etc. I love seeing my kids faces when they open their presents, oldest 2 are nearly 18 and 14 so its not so exciting, libby is 2 and has no idea what is going on. dont feel christmassy at all tonight. hope everyone has a great xmas whether they want to or not!
