2) Through the ass end of London is never going to be fun..ever 3) That then makes and additional cost buying a scoot or suchlike. The SV is a commuting tool and has ben for the last few years. Social riding is minimal for me nowadys. 4) DOnt dirnk at all so that wioll never be a problem. I definitly wont be working that late to miss the last train home thats for sure. All the comments are fine and in all honesty i dont mind the train/tube. Its a simple journey and not one that involves lots of changes. Im going to do a couple of weeks on PT and make a decision at the end of the month. i am also going to trot over there on the bike later today just to confirm route and mileage etc. |

Big congrats on the new job Ian! That's great news.
I can see the dilemma you're having. As Keith says, perhaps a compromise would work well for you. Travelcards for work can be really handy when you want to use PT at weekends etc - no extra cost. Sometimes, when I have to use PT to get to work I really enjoy being able to read the paper / a book etc - and being warm and dry in the crappy weather! If you're going to get a monthly travelcard then that gives you the option to be more flexible and use the bike for a month or two here and there. If you do decide to stick with PT permanently then find out whether your employer does a season ticket loan. When I was in my old job they did - they basically give you a lump sum to buy an annual ticket and then take monthly payments (without interest) directly out of your salary each month. It can work out considerably cheaper per month than buying a monthly ticket. |

![]() ![]() Cazza, they do a season ticket loan but not on Oyster which is a pain. However, it will be considered once i get me feet under the table and get my head round it all. Im still working for Xerox, but at a new contract for Brent Council. Last edited by Viney; 08-01-11 at 03:53 PM. |

You could always move to somewhere more civilised and North of that river.
![]() St Raphael and Stonebridge Park estates are both close at hand to Brent town hall. ![]()
