Yeah that's exactly the way mine work. The thing is that they flash quite fast but when the hazard lights are on, they flash at the normal speed. I reckon there's a resistor issue due to the LEDs.

OK, you learn something every day!

The flash speed is a resistor issue. PM Kilted Ginger, took him hours of melting resistors to get the right solution.
