Reading this quote from the article has saddened me

“It was horrific, I thought I was going to die. He knew I was attached to the bike but he didn’t stop - he even looked down at me and continued riding.“I could smell my flesh burning as I was being dragged along.
“Bikes have been my life and I cannot believe a fellow motorcyclist would do what he did to me - it has sickened me.”

What is wrong with people these days?

I bet PC Adrian Hopkinson never said that and it was the media guys from his force that released those comments!!!

I have apparently made comments in the press before when actually, no, I didn't!

The media guys are 'ers then. I hate that kind of thing just as much as the sentence itself. Do they honestly think just because they say justice has been done, that makes it true, and that everybody will just swallow it? They are treating us like idiots when they release statements like that, better just to say nothing.

And its more than his jobsworth to actually say anything contraversial in the public domain.

Which is why he/they'd better saying nothing at all.

Fellow bikers is a bit of an oxymoron these days, some of the so-called bikers out there are no mates of mine.

This guy was going to carry on until the victim died. Shouldn't he have been done for attempted murder?
Personally I'd say its attempted murder, as he's made no attempt to stop after an accident and dragged his victim 300 yards down the road

this is assault with a deadly weapon, its ridiculous, if i was to not hurt anyone and rob a jewellers at 3am, i would get probably 3 yrs.

and only banned from driving for 3months?!?! he should never be allowed to be in charge of any vehicle for the rest of his life, he couldve stopped the bike and been a half decent person, call ambulance, make sure he is alrite, etc etc, some people dont deserve the privelage of using a motor vehicle.

Oh man, horrible horrible behavior... Really saddened that people can be so cruel to do something like this. Unbelievable that a person can behave in this manner. How can one be so self centered to consider acting as such?!?!

Regarding the prison and ban part, I really don't think "justice" has anything to do with things anymore and it just goes to prove once more how twisted and out of touch with reality the schemes of society really are. Of which, the law is a big f***ed up part, btw.

My first thought was that there must be more to this or they would have brought a more serious charge.Perhaps the evidence was'nt robust enough to get a conviction?
What it does show is that we concentrate for too much on the actual result of a piece of appauling behaviour rather than on the behaviour itself. If the victim had been killed he would have gone down for manslaughter or death by dangerous driving and be doing five or six years. However, the victim survived so he only gets fouteen months for exactly the same behaviour. Its the behaviour that needs punishing, not the lottery of what the result was.
